Singapore hosts 2015 SEA Games

SINGAPORE The Southeast Asian Games will once again return to Singapore in 2015, after a 22-year long hiatus.
The 28th SEA Games will be held 5 to 16 June 2015.
Travel agents interested in promoting and packaging trips to the Games should note that priority sale of tickets opened in Singapore this week, until 30 September.
By registering now it will also give priority access to purchase Games tickets in October.
The remaining tickets will be released for sale to the public only later in November 2014.
The multi-sports event will be anchored by the Singapore Sports Hub as the main venue. It is an impressive centre with world-class stadiums and a vast sports complex that opened last year.
Singapore previously hosted the Games in 1973, 1983 and 1993.
But the fourth time hosting the games is especially significant for Singapore as it celebrates its 50th year of independence in 2015.
Singapore SEA Games Organising Committee (SINGSOC) believes the mid-year dates will provide opportunities for a much bigger participation in the Games, not just for sports enthusiasts. It is being billed as a 12-day sports fiesta.
The Games will have 36 sports and 402 events. Sports are aquatics (swimming, synchronised swimming, diving, waterpolo), archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, billiards & snooker, bowling, boxing, canoeing, cycling, equestrian, fencing, floorball, football, golf, gymnastics, hockey, judo, netball, petanque, rowing, rugby 7s, sailing, sepak takraw, shooting, silat, softball, squash, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, dragon boat, triathlon, volleyball, wakeboard & waterski, and wushu.
Deloitte was appointed the Official Professional Services It was also the partner of the inaugural Youth Olympic Games held in Singapore in 2010.
It pledged SGD$5 million in cash and value-in-kind services as the third tier one sponsor for the region’s most prestigious multi-sport Games.
