Glenn de Souza enters Middle East ‘Power List’ top 20

BANGKOK - Best Western International is delighted to announce that Glenn de Souza, the company’s Vice President of International Operations for Asia & Middle East, has been named as one of the 20 most powerful people in the Middle East hotel industry.

In the 2014 edition of Hotelier Middle East’s annual 'Power 50' list, Mr. de Souza was named as the 19th most influential man in the Middle East hotel industry - an improvement of six places compared to the 2013 list and up 10 places from 2012.

This rise up the ranking reflects Best Western International’s continued expansion in the Middle East, and Mr. de Souza’s key role in driving it. The company now operates six hotels in the region and has a further 14 in the pipeline.

The last 12 months has also seen Best Western International sign a major new development agreement in Qatar, which is set to drive significant growth for the company in this fast-emerging country.

“It is a great honor to be named in the Hotelier Middle East’s 'Power 50' list once again,” said Mr. de Souza. “Our operations in the Middle East region go from strength to strength, with a portfolio now encompassing six excellent hotels in four countries, and many more to follow."

A Singaporean national, Mr. de Souza has a lifetime of experience in the hotel industry and was instrumental in setting up Best Western International’s Asia & Middle East head office in Bangkok in 2002.

Best Western International’s Middle East portfolio now includes hotels in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Saudi Arabia.
