Golden Week travel to Thailand

BANGKOK Chinese tourists are selecting Bangkok as one of the top destinations for travel during the national Golden Week holidays, 1 to 7 October.
According to the third annual Chinese International Travel Monitor conducted by Hotels.Com, Chinese travellers selected four Thai cities in their top 10 favourite searches for Golden Week holidays.
Bangkok ranked third on the list following Taipei and Seoul in first and second place respectively.
Other popular destinations in Thailand were Phuket (6th), Chiang Mai (8th), and Samui Island (10th).
The report said over 80% of hotels in Thailand that are in the Hotel.Com system enjoyed an increase in Chinese bookings in 2013.
Around 72% of Chinese travellers opted to travel to Thailand in December, January and February.
The report also suggested that 41% of hotels in Thailand have invested up to USD10,000 in developing programmes and services catering specifically to their Chinese guests.
In addition, 86% of hoteliers also reported that the revenue from Chinese travellers now accounts for as much as 30% of their business income.
