Fair: Winter travel bargains

BANGKOK  The 33rd edition of Thai Tiew Thai will open its doors 6 to 9 November at Impact Muang Thong Thani offering discounts of up to 60% on domestic tour packages.
Themed “Tiew Frung Fring Tha Lom Nao” (Travel during winter), the four-day event will also add an international travel zone to boost the event’s profile beyond the domestic tourism market.
PK Exhibition Management Company managing director, Krit Pattarapan, said the event would encourage Thais to travel in the country during the winter season.

There will be 650 booths participating in the four-day event — 80% are hotels and resorts and the balance tour operators, airlines, car rental, cruises, travel related equipment suppliers such as tents mountain bikes and dive gear.
New comers include Real Zoo Ayutthaya (Reptile & Exotic Animal Learning Zoo), Lemon Grass Retreat Chonburi, Lipda Resort Ao Manao, Khun Khao Tamnan Prai Ai Mhong Resort Ratchaburi, Harbin Ice Wonderland Bangkok, Aunyamanee Resort Khao Yai, and Gemtree Boutique Hotel Chiang Mai.
Citi Bank cardholders will get an additional discount of up to 35% from participating hotels at 0% interest for four months. A coupon for a lucky draw is given for every THB500 spent.
Krungsri Bank card holders will also get an additional discount up to 35% from participating hotels, at 0% interest for 10 months, and a credit refund of 5% including rewards for every purchase of THB5,000. A coupon for a lucky draw is given for every THB500 spent.
The organiser expects the four-day fair will attract 100,000 visitors and generate Bt120 million in revenue. The event is held three times a year in February, September and November.
The Thai Cabinet recently approved a tax rebate for corporate and private individual travel. Travellers can claim a tax deduction on their annual tax declaration based on receipts for travel and hotel accommodation within the country.
The deductible amount is set at no more than THB15,000.
Companies will also be able to use the tax rebate for residential training programmes for employees.
