Vietnam’s tourism slips

HANOI  Vietnam National Administration of Tourism estimates the country welcomed 559,002 international travellers in October representing a decline of 11.1% over the same month last year.
Thailand’s outbound trips to Vietnam ranked in 10th place with 15,407 trips, down 27.5%.
China continued to head the list of Vietnam’s top source markets with 143,786 visits, despite a decrease of 18.7%. Other top performers were South Korea, Japan, Cambodia and the United States.
inside no 2 Neighbouring Cambodia, in fourth place, supplied 36,634 trips representing an increase of 35.4% over the same month last year.
All of the country’s top markets are in the Asia/Pacific region with exception of the US (fifth).
The bulk of arrivals in October (407,203) passed through two main aviation gateways Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
For January to October, this year, Vietnam recorded 6,608,391 tourist arrivals improving 8.0% over the same period last year.
