Mandarin Oriental adds riverside residences in Bangkok

Mandarin Oriental has penned an agreement to manage 146 luxury riverside residences in Bangkok.

Located on the opposite bank of the Chao Praya River from the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok Hotel, the new residences will form part of Icon Siam – a major new mixed-use project which is currently under development.

Due to open in 2018, Icon Siam is designed as an ultra-luxury development, complete with riverside apartments, high-end shopping malls and a waterfront promenade. The Residences at Mandarin Oriental will be housed in a 52-storey tower overlooking the river and city.

There will be a total of 146 apartments, ranging in size from 132m² to 690m², managed by the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok. Residents will have access to a range of leisure facilities, including a “sky lounge” and library, an outdoor infinity-edged swimming pool, children’s pool, fitness centre, golf simulator, dining facilities and meeting rooms.

“We are delighted to be introducing The Residences at Mandarin Oriental to one of Asia’s most vibrant cities, and are pleased to be part of this remarkable architectural project. We look forward to bringing Mandarin Oriental’s legendary hospitality to this extraordinary development,” said Edouard Ettedgui, group CEO of Mandarin Oriental.

The new development will extend Mandarin Oriental’s presence on Bangkok’s riverside; as well as the hotel the company also operates a luxury spa on same side of the river as the new residences.

The original Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, known for many years simply as The Oriental, dates back 135 years.
