Tropical North Queensland to woo meeting and incentive buyers

The extraordinary Cairns hospitality enjoyed by the G20 and Australian Tourism Exchange delegates has created strong interest in the region’s key familiarisation for Australian and New Zealand meeting and incentive buyers.

Business Events Cairns & Great Barrier Reef Director Rosie Douglas said the annual Sell TNQ event in Cairns on November 7-12 would show the business events industry that Tropical North Queensland is the perfect location for business events.

“Sell TNQ will bring 31 Australian and New Zealand meeting and incentive buyers, trade media from Australia and Hong Kong and a representative from Tourism Australia to learn about what our destination offers and experience our products,” she said.

“Tropical North Queensland’s reputation is very strong after successfully becoming the first regional destination to host the Australian Tourism Exchange and then delivering a seamless G20 meeting for the Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors this year."

“We have proven that Cairns has outstanding business event capabilities with easy aviation access, a welcoming inner-city convention precinct and unique locations for events with a wow factor."

“Our dual World Heritage areas of the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics rainforest present endless opportunities for amazing gala dinners, challenging team building activities and an incentive to stay longer for a holiday."

Ms Douglas said the Sell TNQ delegates will experience the intimacy of Cairns city with workshops at the award-winning Cairns Convention Centre, a welcome lunch at the Shangri-La Hotel, The Marina Cairns and a gala dinner on the waterfront terrace of the Hilton Cairns.

“We will surprise them with a function at the Cairns Botanic Gardens and give them the option of seeing the Great Barrier Reef or the Wet Tropics rainforest,” she said.

“A record number of 18 participants are staying for post-touring in Port Douglas and Palm Cove to experience activities often utilised by incentive groups such as a cooking class with local produce, Aboriginal culture, a sunset cruise and a performance in the rainforest.”
