SINGAPORE - InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) announces the opening of the highly-anticipated InterContinental Sydney Double Bay, earmarked as one of the most exclusive properties in the country. Marking the arrival of the fifth InterContinental Hotels & Resorts property in Australia, InterContinental Sydney Double Bay is the only luxury hotel outside Sydney’s CBD.

Offering intimate glamour and privacy, guests and visitors to the hotel will be provided with an entirely unique and unrivalled experience. Acquired and refurbished by Royal Hotels Australia, the multi-million dollar development of InterContinental Sydney Double Bay epitomises luxury and elegance and is pivotal to the resurgence of the esteemed Double Bay area.

The hotel offers world-class accommodation, unique event spaces, stunning views of Double Bay village and Bay, unparalleled service and an abundance of dedicated amenities. The elegance of its facilities and the personalisation of service will prove popular with the high-calibre of clientele for which the bayside address is renowned.

Alan Watts, Chief Operating Officer IHG Australasia, Middle East and Africa said, “The opening of InterContinental Sydney Double Bay marks an important time for IHG not only in Australia, but in the wider region, and globally. We are thrilled to have partnered with Royal Hotels in the development of this exceptional hotel, and are delighted to bring Sydneysiders, as well as visitors from interstate and across the globe such a world-class hotel."

“InterContinental Sydney Double Bay offers something unlike any other Sydney hotel – its understated style fuses with the utmost in luxury and sophistication, and its location makes it the ideal retreat.”

Upon entering InterContinental Sydney Double Bay by its original marble reception, guests and visitors will be wowed by the stunning architecture and interior of the hotel, characterised by a blend of contemporary design and beautifully-reinstated features, including Italian white marble and grey-green marble fireplace. Each of the 140 guestrooms and suites is exquisitely furnished, with most opening out onto European fashioned balconies.

The hotel’s original Grand Ballroom has been restored and will undoubtedly be the venue of choice for Sydney’s premium weddings and events, with a capacity to host up to 495 guests cocktail-style. For smaller-scale events and conferences there are an additional six spaces, all of which feature state-of-the-art technology and design.

In addition to its breath-taking décor, the hotel’s prime location offers guests some of Sydney’s best views. Situated in the tranquil suburb of Double Bay, just 13 kilometres from the airport and five kilometres from the CBD, there are magnificent views of the Bay, the village, the hotel’s provincial French courtyard and Sydney’s magnificent harbour. Arguably the best vista is enjoyed from the hotel’s dramatic new addition, the rooftop infinity pool, featuring a private bar and lounge area with cabanas; a perfect retreat for those looking to relax on holiday or after a long day of work.

The ultimate venue to enjoy a delicious cocktail, InterContinental Sydney Double Bay’s Stillery concept gin bar is anticipated to be one of the city’s hottest new haunts. Overlooking the Double Bay village, guests and Sydney locals will sink into luxurious leather sofas while sipping on their favourite cocktail, chosen from a wide array of unique and rare bottles of the spirit.

When it comes to dining the options at InterContinental Sydney Double Bay are plentiful. The pinnacle is Stockroom - headed up by Executive Chef, Julien Pouteau – a destination restaurant using seasonal, market-fresh produce prepared using techniques such as curing, smoking, pickling and cooking with a robata grill.

Guests can also enjoy culinary delights in the hotel’s exclusive Club InterContinental lounge and spacious French provincial courtyard, landscaped with original stone, a collection of evergreen trees and a manicured fragrant garden.

Additional dining options can be found on the ground floor retail precinct of the building, including Henley’s Wholefoods, contemporary Japanese offering, Sake Restaurant & Bar, and a restaurant and bar concept by local hospitality outfit, The Group. Also on this floor is 24-hour gym Snap Fitness with dedicated personal trainers and a wellness centre.

Frederic Brohez, General Manager, InterContinental Sydney Double Bay said, “Our hotel is preceded by its reputation, and we have worked hard to stay true to the hotel’s history while paving the way for a new chapter. InterContinental Sydney Double Bay is the pinnacle of elegance, luxury and world-class service, combined with modern day technology and simplicity, making it the perfect choice for creating a flawless event, building everlasting memories or just relaxing in private.”
