India: Accor Group hotel network to double in quick time

10 Nov 2014  2036 | World Travel News

The group runs 30 hotels across the country, opened 5 brand-new establishments in Q3 2014… and it's not finished yet. There is 1 more in the pipeline before the year comes to an end. The success story will continue in 2015 with another 20 new hotels that will lay their foundation, further strengthening Accor’s presence in the country.

The Group continues to pursue its conquest of the Indian market and has just unveiled its two latest destinations, the Novotel Kolkata Hotel & Residences and the Novotel Chennai Sipcot. These openings further consolidate the Group's already-strong presence in India's major cities, making it one of the world's best represented hotel groups.

The Grand Mercure Goa Shrem Resort is Accor's first spa property in India. The 121 room retreat with its dramatic architecture is conceptualized as a charming Indo-Portuguese destination. Just off North Goa's bustling nightlife and beaches, this resort is a perfect place for both families and business travellers seeking relaxation. Offering revitalizing Balinese and specialty wellness treatments, the holistic sanctuary is an ideal location to relax and rejuvenate. This superb new venue further strengthens the Group's position on a rapidly expanding Indian market.

Jean-Michel Casse, Senior Vice-President, Operations, Accor India, is delighted with Accor's development in the region: "Thanks to our strong brands and distribution network, we are ideally positioned to seize the growth opportunities in this market where demand is growing considerably, particularly in the midscale and economy segments. We believe that our strategic approach to development coupled with our extensive product offering will enable us to secure market leadership going forward. The dynamic expansion in this country illustrates our expansion strategy, with a secured pipeline of 20 more hotels by 2015 across all market segments."

"We have already opened 5 hotels and have 1 more which is slated to open end of this year. The strength of our brands, locally-relevant distribution channels and the loyalty programs will all play a part in attracting visitors to our hotels in India" he adds.
