Europe hotels rates plummet

London Hotel prices have decreased across Europe, this month, according to the November trivago Hotel Price Index (tHPI) reported monthly by hotel comparison website trivago.co.uk.
Based on the 50 most popular European cities on trivago, hotel prices have dropped by an average of 13% in comparison to last month. One night in November will cost an average of £86, compared to £99 in October.
Trivago bases its assessments on average price for a standard double room, based on over 2 million daily search enquiries from over 175 booking sites worldwide.

Spain was also cheaper, where prices have decreased in Barcelona (down 28% to UKP84), Seville (down 23% to UKP63) and Bilbao (also down 23% to UKP60).
While European hotel prices have dropped this month, UK hotel prices remain relatively unchanged compared to October, but have increased in comparison to November 2013. The largest increase can be found in Norwich, where prices have increased by 20% to an average of UKP110 per night.
Trivago’s UK public relations. Denise Bartlett said: “This November might be the best month to visit Italian cities such as Rome, Venice and Florence – temperatures are much milder than the UK, crowds are less and hotel prices are significantly cheaper.”
“The same can be said for Barcelona, Lisbon, Athens, Seville and Bilbao. Paris is also worth mentioning – typically it is one of the most expensive European cities, but this month visitors can save an average of UKP41 in comparison to last month.”
“Hotel prices across Europe have also generally decreased compared to this time last year. This can be seen in Paris, Rome and Barcelona, where prices are down by 8 per cent in comparison to November 2013. Conversely, UK hotel have increased significantly compared to this time last year – by an average of 6 per cent, based on the 20 most popular UK cities. UK travellers might find their money goes further abroad this winter.”
Trivago claims to be the world’s largest online hotel search site, comparing rates from over 700,000 hotels on over 175 booking sites worldwide. It integrates over 140 million hotel ratings and 14 million photos in order to make finding the right hotel easier for users.
