Boeing sales pitch to Air Mandalay

NAY PYI TAW  Boeing and Air Mandalay signed a memorandum of collaboration, last week, to upgrade the airline’s fleet.
According to the media release, Boeing will assist Air Mandalay with its efforts to procure Next-Generation 737 planes through leasing channels to support of Air Mandalay’s expansion plan.
It practical terms Boeing will gain a strong foothold in the country and sell it planes to Air Mandalay, or assist it to secure lease arrangements.
inside no 2Air Mandalay’s CEO and founder, Adam Htoon, said the memorandum was an important step in the airline’s growth strategy.
He said: “The country is looking to position itself as a major tourism destination capable of handling an increasing number of foreign visitors. The 737s will provide us with capabilities to support this critical national growth strategy.”
Boeing Southeast Asia president, Skip Boyce, added: “We look forward to supporting Air Mandalay with its fleet expansion strategy, setting the foundation for a long and successful partnership between Air Mandalay and Boeing,”
“The Next-Generation 737 aircraft will provide Air Mandalay with market-leading efficiency, reliability and passenger comfort, allowing the airline to continue to prosper and grow in the region.”
The 737 family is the best-selling commercial jetliner in history, with orders for more than 12,000 airplanes through October 2014 from more than 280 customers. More than 8,000 737s have been delivered.
Air Mandalay Limited is a private joint venture company that was incorporated, 6 October 1994, to operate as Myanmar’s first privately owned airline and support the country’s tourism industry.
It operates to all of Myanmar’s main tourist destinations and commercial hubs. The airline also offers air charter services to destinations both within the country and regionally, but it operates just one regional scheduled route to Chiang Mai.
It is now operating with two ATR 72-212s and one ATR 42-320.
