Shanghai’s spectacular new cultural landmark showcases an intriguing collection comprising thousands of ancient Chinese cultural relics including jade artifacts, Buddhist sculptures and porcelain. The Aurora Museum collection is housed in an eye-catching contemporary building inspired by an Oriental curio box that was designed by globally renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando.

Guests can experience a unique Oriental Art and Culture Journey during their stay, offering rich historical insights to complement Shanghai’s dazzling futurism. When booking in advance through the hotel’s concierge, suite guests can enjoy the services of a private tour guide who will prepare a personally curated tour of the Aurora Museum’s precious collection.

Specially priced entrance tickets to the Aurora Museum are also available to all room guests at Mandarin Oriental Pudong, Shanghai when booking through the concierge.

Mandarin Oriental Pudong, Shanghai is also an art destination on the waterfront, featuring 4,000 original artworks displayed throughout the public spaces and guestrooms. The collection showcases 50 world-renowned artists, including 18 highly prized contemporary artists from China. More than 3,500 pieces are bespoke commissions for the Hotels.

Among the prestigious names in the collection is Chinese artist Lai De Quan, a national-level master artist whose pieces have been presented to several world dignitaries. Master Lai has created 44 porcelain artworks especially for the hotel. He invented a new technique of glaze painting directly onto traditional Jingdezhen porcelain for his panel collection, Scenes of Jiangnan, which is on display in the guestroom corridors and Presidential Suite.
