The Taj Group’s upscale hotel brand, Gateway, has unveiled its first resort-style property in India.

Located close to the Aravalli Hills, just outside Delhi, the Gateway Resort Damdama Lake Gurgaon is spread over eight hectares of land and surrounded by nearly 1,000 trees. It features 78 rooms and suites, plus a restaurant offering a range of Asian cuisines, and a lounge bar.

“We are delighted to launch the country’s first ever resort under the Gateway brand at Damdama,” said Rakesh Sarna, managing director & CEO of Indian Hotels Company.

“India’s tourism potential is unmatched in terms of its uniqueness, culture and heritage. The industry has become one of the key growth drivers for the economy generating employment and nurturing communities. The rapid increase in domestic [and] foreign tourists has created a need for developing newer destinations and innovative service offerings; a concept that the Taj has pioneered in India,” he added.

Intended as a weekend retreat for residents of Delhi and the NCR region, the resort offers access to Damdama Lake and Sohna hot springs. There is also an adventure sports complex within the resort which offers such activities as zorbing and rock climbing, plus a fitness centre, pool and spa.

The resort also caters to events, with more than 900m² of function space suitable for conferences, meetings and weddings.

As well as being the first Gateway resort in India, Gateway Resort Damdama Lake Gurgaon also marks the brand’s entry into the NCR region. Nationwide, Gateway now operates 25 properties in India.
