Koreans flock to Danang

DANANG  Danang’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism says the city is now attracting more tourists from South Korea thanks to an increase in airline services.
The department deputy director, Tran Chi Cuong, told local media that the number of South Korean tourists to the central region gateway town has doubled to between 2,000 and 2,200 a week when compared to the same period last year.
“South Korean arrivals posted the fastest growth in 2014. Domestic and foreign airlines have been operating 20 scheduled and charter flights between Danang and some cities in South Korea every week.”
inside no 1Asiana Airlines and Korean Air are the main drivers offering daily services from Seoul, while flag-carrier Vietnam Airlines is also serving Korea with three weekly flights since 1 July. VietJet flies daily services between Danang and Seoul.
He added: “South Korea is the visitor-generating market with the most impressive growth this year.”
Up to September this year, the city welcomed 3,023,266 domestic and international tourists increasing 18.0% year-on-year. Of that, 657,600 were foreign tourists improving 18.4%.
Since the start of this year, 36 new hotels with 1,831 rooms have opened. This has helped to bring the total to 426 hotels, providing 15,465 rooms. Three to five-star hotels offer 7,267 rooms in 71 properties.
