SINGAPORE - InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) announces their latest signing in Singapore with the OUE Group, a leading diversified real estate owner, developer and operator, for a new 243-room extension to Crowne Plaza Changi Airport. The management agreement increases the business hotel's room count by more than 75 percent and propels IHG's development pipeline in the country past the 1,000-room mark, cementing its position as one of the largest international hotel operators in Singapore.

The current 320-room Crowne Plaza Changi Airport, which opened in 2008, has seen strong occupancy from transiting passengers and the neighbouring Changi Business Park which houses global multinational companies across various sectors such as finance and technology.

With the completion of the airport's new runway, Terminal 4 and upcoming mixed use complex which will link the existing three terminals and feature a range of retail outlets and leisure attractions, the new wing will complement Changi Airport's growth as a key regional transit hub and lifestyle destination over the coming years.

The new 10-storey wing will be located adjacent to the existing Crowne Plaza Changi Airport. Together, the hotel will feature 563 rooms, with a business centre and business services accessible round the clock to ensure guests travelling on business are completely connected with everything they need for a productive stay. Conference facilities are also available for meetings and events.

Guests can dine at the range of food and beverage outlets in the hotel, which include Azur, the all-day dining restaurant; a speciality restaurant, a lobby lounge bar, and a warm and cool bar. In their down time, guests can relax and enjoy the hotel's leisure facilities, which include a pool, health club and spa.

Clarence Tan, Senior Vice President, Development, Asia, Middle East and Africa, IHG, said: “Since it opened six years ago, Crowne Plaza Changi Airport has seen strong demand from a mix of passengers in transit and both short- and- long-stay business and leisure travellers. Its proximity to Changi Airport – one of the world's busiest airports – and the neighbouring business park make it the ideal choice for visitors.

“With the government's plans to increase the airport's infrastructure and surrounding amenities, the extension to the hotel is a welcome development. We are delighted to be extending our partnership with the OUE Group and look forward to delivering greater guest experiences with our valued partners when the new wing opens in 2016,” he added.

With six hotels (more than 2,200 rooms) open across four brands in Singapore, IHG is currently one of the largest international hotel operators in the country. With the signing of the extension to Crowne Plaza Changi Airport, the company now has more than 1,000 rooms across three hotels in its development pipeline.

Hotels in Singapore operated by IHG include: InterContinental Singapore, Crowne Plaza Changi Airport, Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre, Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium, Holiday Inn Express Singapore Orchard Road and Holiday Inn Express Singapore Clarke Quay.
