Mr. Thawatchai Arunyik, Governor of TAT, said “The Thailand Fan Club Season II party was organised to strengthen relationships among members, who are recognised as important presenters for Thailand’s tourism. The Thailand Fan Club is part of TAT’s social media marketing to encourage word-of-mouth publicity among the member’s network and groups of friends and families.”

The 250 members attending the TFC Season II were selected from over 37,800 members from around France through an online questionnaire on www.tourismthaifr.com. During the evening function (18.30 – 23.00 hrs.),10 members – divided into 5 teams – were invited to take part in a quiz game to seek the “true friends of Thailand” through question-and-answer sessions on top destinations in Thailand; such as, historical sites, natural attractions, beaches, culture and traditions, Thai food and film locations.

Winners received prizes from the event’s supporters, including Thai Airways International (air ticket for BKK- Paris- BKK) and Bangkok Airways (air ticket for a domestic flight), leading hotels in Thailand (accommodation), Thai restaurants in Paris (meal vouchers) and the Traditional Thai Massage Institute in Paris (gift vouchers).

Mr. Thawatchai said, “During the event, the TAT Paris Office constantly publicised all activities via social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, using #mathailande (My Thailand), which is in line with our 2015 marketing strategy to build on a ‘Happiness You Can Share” buzz under the Social Customer Relationship Management project.”

The TAT Paris Office also promoted news and updates on up-and-coming tourist destinations in Thailand, including the 12 hidden gems, and the many newly-opened luxury accommodation premises in key attractions up and down the country.

France is the fourth largest source of tourist markets from Europe to Thailand, after Russia, the UK and Germany. In 2013, Thailand welcomed a total of 611,582 visitors from France, representing a 6.16 per cent increase over 2012.

Between January and November, 2014, Thailand recorded a total of 566,952 travellers from France, representing an increase of 3.51 per cent when compared to the same period of 2013.
