HANOI Vietnam National Administration of Tourism estimates the country welcomed 657,304 international travellers in December 2014 representing a decline of 9.0% over the same month in 2013.
Thailand’s outbound trips to Vietnam slipped off the top 10 list recording 20,734 trips, down 23.4% on December 2013.
China continued to top the list of source markets with 133,590 visits, despite a decrease of 26.5%. Other top performers were South Korea, Japan, Malaysia and Cambodia.
inside no 3 Neighbouring Cambodia, in fifth place, supplied 37,422 trips representing an increase of 16.2% over the same month in 2013.
All of the country’s top markets are in the Asia/Pacific region with exception of the United States (sixth) and Russia (seventh).
The bulk of arrivals in December (519,438) passed through the two main aviation gateways Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
For January to December 2014, Vietnam recorded 7,874,312 tourist arrivals, an increase of 4.0% over 2013.
