Starwood debuts in Samoa

Late last year the US-based hotel group signed a management contract two Samoan properties; Aggie Grey’s Lagoon Beach Resort & Spa and Aggie Grey’s Hotel & Bungalows, both of which are located on the island of Upolu. And now, following a multi-million dollar conversion project, the first of these has been relaunched as the Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Resort.

Owned by the Grey family, the resort becomes the first internationally-branded resort in Samoa.

“Sheraton already has a strong footprint here in the Pacific region and this latest opening plays an important role in our overall development and growth strategy,” he added.

Set on the west coast of Upolu, Samoa’s most populous island, Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Resort is just a five-minute drive from Faleolo International Airport.

The resort offers 133 rooms, all with their own terrace or balcony, plus high-speed internet and 42-inch flat-screen televisions.
On site recreational facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, tennis court, 24-hour fitness centre, kids’ club and an outdoor spa, while there is also a golf course nearby. The resort also features a five restaurants and bars, plus facilities for meetings, weddings and functions.

The second Samoan property, which will be renamed Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Hotel & Bungalows, is expected to open in the second quarter of 2015. Starwood now operates eight Sheraton properties in the Pacific region.
