Eurostar gets back on track from weekend closure

20 Jan 2015  2043 | World Travel News

Eurostar passengers will be hoping for a smoother service tomorrow (19 January) after a weekend of disruption.

Engineering work tonight will put more sections into service tomorrow morning and currently Eurostar said it expects to run a full service tomorrow.

Services could be subject to a 30 minute delay as Eurotunnel will not be completely operational.

Around 12,000 people were affected on Saturday when the tunnel was closed following a lorry fire.

However a further 11 services were cancelled on Sunday morning following an unrelated power supply problem.

Trains had started to move on this morning (18 January) but the power fault resulted in both tunnels closing for two hours.

Eurotunnel operated a reduced service with delays up to five hours.
