BANGKOK, Thailand - SpiceRoads Cycle Tours has developed a 4-day "Pop-Up" road bike tour - the Chinese New Year Road Ride from February 19 - 22, 2015 along the southeast coast of Thailand. This tour has been designed for anyone wanting to take advantage of the Chinese New Year holiday, ride hard and explore a different part of Asia.

Struan Robertson, CEO of SpiceRoads, says, “Chinese New Year Road Ride is the first ‘Pop-Up’ Tour we have developed around a local regional holiday! We are planning future 'Pop-Up' tours throughout the year that will be short, of different riding difficulties and will always coincide with public holidays".

This tour starts just outside of Bangkok and heads southeast on undulating country back roads to the famous coastal city of Pattaya, and then along the east coast finishing at the seaside town of Laem Mae Phim.

The roads on this tour are smooth tarmac and great for riding. The first section will be on flat roads winding through rice fields, along canals and rivers before starting to undulate gradually with a few short, steep climbs. The last leg of the tour is along the coastal road and ends at one of Thailand’s beautiful beaches.

There is a stop at the gigantic Buddha image, measuring 130 meters, visits to quaint Thai villages and a rest at Silverlake Winery to sample some local grape juice.

The trip is fully supported and led by expert guides. Their knowledge of the area and terrain means that you always know what is coming up in terms of distance and difficulty.

An air conditioned bus with a constant supply of cold drinks and fresh fruit will be on hand to pick up riders in need of a break.

This 4-day Chinese New Year Road Ride will cover 340 km. A good level of physical fitness is recommended as the longest day is 110 kms.

Riders will be collected from their hotel on the morning of the Thursday 19th February and dropped at the airport or to their hotel in Bangkok on Sunday 22nd February.
