HANOI Vietnam National Administration of Tourism estimates the country welcomed 700,692 international travellers in January representing a decline of 9.7% during the same month last year.
Thailand’s outbound trips to Vietnam slipped off the top 10 list with 18,996 trips, down 21.0%.
China led the list of Vietnam’s top markets with 119,517 visits, despite a decrease of 24.7%. Other top performers were South Korea, Japan, the United States, and Australia.
inside no 2Neighbouring Cambodia, in seventh place, supplied 29,977 trips representing a decline of 4.2% over the same month in 2014.
All of the country’s top markets are in the Asia/Pacific region with exception of the US (fourth) and Russia (sixth).
Travel is likely to drop from Russia as the economic crisis deepens.
The bulk of arrivals in January (561,883) passed through the two main aviation gateways Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
