Hanoi and Tokyo promote each other

HANOI  Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has signed a memorandum of cooperation to promote tourism between Hanoi and Tokyo, Japan.
Signed last week, the memorandum will provide an opportunity for Hanoi’s tourism industry to attract more Japanese tourists.
Through a two-way promotional campaign, Hanoi and Tokyo will support advertisements for tourism in the two cities, local media reported.
inside no 3Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will advertise Tokyo’s tourism at key locations in the capital city until 15 February.
In Japan, Tokyo will introduce Hanoi’s tourism through electronic billboards at Ropponghi station 22 to 28 September.
More than 1,000 photos featuring Hanoi’s tourism will be posted on trains plying the Asakusa, Mita, Shinjuku, Oedo routes from 29 September to 12 October.
Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism director, To Van Dong, said about 20 million Japanese travelled overseas in 2014, making it a vast market for Hanoi to tap.
“The average days spent in a destination is high too and Japanese tourists are interested in cultural tourism, so it fits Hanoi’s branding efforts.”
Last year, 647,956 Japanese travelled to Vietnam, an increase of 7.3% from 2013.
