Twenty hotels from countries including Wales and Ireland have recently joined Historic Hotels of Europe.

The group now has 500 members from across the continent, which also include restaurants.

New Welsh members are: The Corran Resort & Spa, Penally Abbey and Caemorgan Mansion. Its Irish additions include Ghan House, Restaurant Forty-One and Campagne Restaurant.

There are six members from France: Château de Noyelles, Château de Varenne, Domaine de Mombreux, Castel Damandre, Hostellerie de la Tour d’Auxois and Hotel Edward 1er while two from Greece have joined: The Marpessa Smart Luxury Hotel and Cotommatae.

The other additions are from Norway (1), Austria (2) and Switzerland (2).

Chairman Barbara Avdis said: “We are delighted to welcome new members into the historic hotels portfolio of hotels. The growth in new membership is testament to the value independent hoteliers recognise, today more than ever in the strength of being members of an upscale consortium and speaking with one united voice.”

Avdis added that adding new sales and social media tools has helped the group see a ‘dramatic rise’ in bookings.
