LIJIANG, CHINA The InterContinental Lijiang Ancient Town Resort has officially opened this week in Lijiang town, China.
Situated next to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lijiang old town, the property is the newest member of InterContinental Hotels and Resorts, following an upgrade and rebranding.
As part of the rebranding the hotel’s executive-floor rooms were upgraded with new technology, soft furnishings and the addition of a club lounge.
inside no 5General manager Constance Cheong explained: “Lijiang offers unrivalled opportunities to see Yunnan culture and the surrounding countryside.”
Lijiang Yulong Tourism chairmain, He Xianzhong added: “As visitors to Lijiang become more sophisticated, we believe the addition of hotels that can meet their needs is fundamental to securing long-term development of tourism in the region.”
The hotel stands beside Lijiang Ancient Town, a World Cultural Heritage site. With 274 rooms including 12 suites inspired by designs from the Naxi Dongba ethnic traditions, the rooms are spread across a sub-tropical garden covering 51,000 square metres.
The hotel also has a 500-person capacity ballroom and a spa featuring the Juvenis 20 Spa treatment together with special programmes using local Lijiang and Yunnan herbs.
