ITE HCMC opens for registration

SINGAPORE  Registration is underway for the 11th edition of International Travel Expo, Ho Chi Minh City, 10 to 12 September 2015 at the Saigon Exhibitions & Convention Centre, Ho Chi Minh City.
Earlier this week, details of the show were emailed to travel and hospitality companies throughout the region to boost registration. See www.itehcmc.com.
Last year, the show attracted 320 exhibiting companies, 280 hosted buyers and 21,325 visitors, a mix of local travel trade and consumers.
The show organiser claims 70% of the trade visitors were decision makers. There were more than 11,000 consumers that pushed the total visitors over the 21,000 mark when trade visitors were included.
inside no 8To underscore the value of consumer attendance, the organisers quote research by the World Travel and Tourism Council that estimates international travel by Vietnamese in 2011 stood at USD3.3 billion, and rose to USD3.5 billion in 2012. Outbound travel spending is expected to grow by 6.4% per annum until 2022.
But the presence of 280 international buyers suggests the show’s main objective is to boost inbound travel to Vietnam and position the country as a gateway to the Mekong Region.
By 2020, Vietnam should welcome around 11 million tourists.
ITE HCMC 2015 will continue to showcase the Five Countries – One Single Destination” initiative to spread tourism to the “lower Mekong Sub-Region’ namely Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
The show is endorsed by all the tourism ministries of the five countries.
