MANILA – Upmarket boutique-style Azamara Club Cruises’ ship Azamara Quest has called at the port of Puerto Princesa in the Philippines for the first time. The ship is on a 16-night voyage starting from Bali which features an overnight stay in Manila, and calls at other Asian destinations namely Komodo, Sandakan, Hualien, Naha and ending in Osaka with a double overnight.

An official ceremony was held onboard the ship to welcome her maiden call, with plaque and key exchanges between Captain Carl Smith of Azamara Quest, Mr Lucilo Bayron, Puerto Princesa’s City Mayor and Mr Jose Cesario Bautista, Port Manager of Philippine Ports Authority. The event was attended by representatives of Philippine Ports Authority, City Government of Palawan business partners, media and Azamara Club Cruises Representatives in The Philippines.

Ms Marilen Sandejas-Yaptangco, Royal Caribbean International’s Representative in the Philippines said, “Puerto Princesa is rising in popularity among tourists in recent years and we are proud to add it to Azamara Quest’ Asian itineraries. This will give our international guests more ways to discover this country. Our successful call today is also the result of the strong support of the local Government which marks a positive step in cruise development for the country.”

The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park with its unspoiled natural beauty is one of top sightseeing sights in Puerto Princesa. It has one of the most impressive caves systems in the world and contains an 8.2 km long underground river that flows directly into the South China Sea. No trip to Puerto Princesa would be complete either without a visit to the indigenous Batak tribe or island hopping at the famous Honda Bay.

After this sailing, Azamara Quest will be sailing a 16-night voyage from Osaka to Singapore, following which the ship will reposition from Asia to Europe in April.

The 11-deck, 694-guest ship Azamara Quest offers concierge-style amenities, including fresh-cut flowers, Elemis toiletries, plasma TVs, plush European bedding, world class spa treatments with the finest therapists and aestheticians. For meals, guests will have a choice of one of two specialty restaurants: Mediterranean-influenced Aqualina and a stylish steak and seafood restaurant Prime C, the main dining room or the casual dining venue.

Guests aboard can enjoy a suite of inclusive amenities such as complimentary red and white boutique wines to accompany lunch and dinner, English Butler service for suite guests, and the recently-launched AzAmazing Evening – an immersive complimentary destination event ashore featured on every voyage event on every voyage. Azamara specializes in what it calls Destination ImmersionSM, meaning longer stays, more overnights and night touring in ports of call. No other cruise line spends as much time in port, allowing Azamara guests a richer stay in the destinations, enjoying things like live music, theater and restaurants, and clubs that light up after dark. Most of all, with one staff member for every two guests, Azamara's personal service is unparalleled.
