TITF opens with airline bargains

BANGKOK The 16th edition Thai International Travel Fair opened Wednesday attracting consumers who were keen to snatch up tour packages and airline deals valid through July this year.
The 16th TITF continues to Sunday, 1 March, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre, but consumers had already snatched up best discounts offered by airlines shortly after the doors opened Wednesday.
At the event, consumrs will be able to purchase domestic, or outbound packages, that will save them 10% to 20% off standard prices.
Thai Travel Agents Association president, Suparerk Soorangura, said the event offers a sales platform for both B2B and B2C companies. But the main emphasis is to tap Thai consumers planning trips for the summer school holidays starting in March.
Inside 2This year, there are 1,100 booths representing hotels, resorts, travel agents, airlines, cruise companies, car rental companies, theme parks and tourism organisations.
“Booth increased…over 30 international tourism organisations are participating in the event from Japan, the Philippines, Taiwan, Malaysia, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, New Zealand, Switzerland, and Germany.”
Inside 2.2There is also an AEC booth to provide trade information for visitors.
The 16th edition TITF sponsors are: TTAA; Thai Amadeus Southeast Asia; ThaiVivat Insurance PCL; and Krungthai Card PLC.
KTC card-holders who purchase travel for a value of THB5,000 will get a gift voucher worth THB200. For spend of THB50,000, consumers will be given an overnight bag worth THB2,490. For spend of THB150,000, consumers will be given a trolley bag worth THB5,490.
Inside 2.1Top spender of the day who purchases through KTC-Royal Orchid Plus a minimum of THB100,000 on travel will get a free air ticket on Thai Airways International’s Bangkok-Hong Kong route.
TTAA estimated the five-day event will attract 500,000 visitors and generate THB800 million in business booked.
The show is held twice annually in February and August.
