ATTA candidates on election trail

BANGKOK  Association of Thai Travel Agents will elect its 36th president and committee on 31 March for a two-year term.
The election will take place at Napalai Ballroom, Dusit Thani Bangkok 1000 to 1300.
The current president Sisdivachr Cheewarattaporn, who has served two terms; 2011 to 2012 and 2013 to 2014, will step down.
So far, there are two candidates; Charoen Wangananont and Vichit Prakobgosol.

Mr Charoen who is currently ATTA secretary has been campaigning under the slogan of “Together We Can” with the message “Big Move for ATTA”.
“There are various big moves that the association has accomplish such as strong management of the association itself, human resources, services for members, office branches and income including an active tourism strategic plan,” he told TTR Weekly on the sidelines of the association monthly meeting on Thursday.
He added: “We will continue our work focusing on ASEAN markets this year…neighbouring countries will help to boost Thailand tourism.”
The second candidate, Vichit is currently CCT Group president and honorary president of Thai-Chinese Tourism Alliance Association. He is also the TCTA association founder and a former president and vice president of ATTA who completed two terms.

His campaign slogan is “Reform ATTA in Right Direction”.
“I have 35 years experience in inbound tourism…my team will include tourism experts covering worldwide markets such as Asia, China, Japan, South Korea, India, ASEAN, Europe, and Middle East,” he told TTR Weekly.
“Besides tighten the association management, we need to encourage members to attend the monthly meeting, while we deliver quality and interesting updates on tourism information.”
He said: “Although todays the number of association members is increasing, there are few people attending the monthly meetings,” claiming the current team focuses too much on the Chinese market.
“We then need to provide tourism strategies covering all markets for our members who are tour operators, hotels, and attractions.”
