MCEC unveils new Plenary identity

03 Mar 2015  2037 | World Travel News

Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre’s (MCEC) Chief Executive Peter King unveiled the new identity of Plenary at their free public event Open Space.

Plenary’s brand was presented to 1200 guests through a virtual reality showcase, transforming the space right before the audiences’ eyes and offering a truly immersive events experience.

The 5500 seat Plenary is the centrepiece of MCEC and has naturally found its place as a leading mid-sized venue between the likes of Festival Hall and Rod Laver Arena.

Plenary has attracted some of the world’s greatest musicians, entertainers, sporting icons and performers from Arnold Schwarzenegger to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Nick Cave to the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Sir David Attenborough to the upcoming St Petersburg Swan Lake Ballet.

During the reveal MCEC’s Chief Executive Peter Kind said: “Our Plenary is internationally renowned within the business event industry and now Melburnians are beginning to discover this spectacular space."

“Many people may not know what Plenary is truly capable of, its hidden potential, and the diversity of performances held on this stage every week."

“In the last six years Plenary has opened its doors and moved its walls almost 1000 times for over 1.3 million guests."

“It’s good to be open – open to change, to possibility, to new experiences and that’s why we’ve created a whole a new identity for Plenary, because it deserves its own unique personality."

“It’s a space that the people of Melbourne should be proud of and a place they can consider their own,” King added.

The new identity will allow Plenary to become a Melbourne venue in its own right, attract even more concerts and performances, and add to the city’s reputation as the cultural capital of Australia.

With its world-class design, adaptable acoustics and adjustable walls, Plenary is perfect for large events for over 5000 or can be transformed into three self-contained plenaries for more intimate performances.

MCEC’s leading technology and expertise are under the one roof at Plenary with the on-site team offering diverse skills across lighting, audio, vision, and IT, as well as decades of experience at the venue.
