Myanmar’s golf expansion slows

MANDALAY  Construction of a brand new golf course in Mandalay has slowed according to a report in the latest Golfasian newsletter released Tuesday.
The golf tourism promoter, based in Bangkok, said progress on Myotha National Golf Club outside of Mandalay is off the pace.
“Five holes are completed and the others are on hold until all legal hurdles with the land rights are cleared,” the specialist newsletter reports.
It adds that the entire project, which is part of a new industrial and residential city, should be completed by 2017.

In related news, the company now organises two Masters events; Centara World Masters and the inaugural Accor Vietnam World Masters (6 to 12 September) Travel agents earn a 10% commission on bookings for these two tournaments.
Golfasian, established 1997 in Bangkok, taps a membership base of 162,014 golfers, who are interested in playing golf in Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Laos, and Myanmar.
