Skytrax: Changi stays on top

SINGAPORE  Changi Airport in Singapore has been voted the World’s Best Airport by air travellers for the third year in a row at the 2015 World Airport Awards, held at Passenger Terminal EXPO in Paris, France, last week.
Five other airports appeared in the Skytrax top 10; Incheon (2) Hong Kong (4), Tokyo (5) Central Japan (7) and Beijing (10).
This is the sixth time that Changi Airport has picked up the top title at the World Airport Awards.
“To win this prestigious award three years in succession is a remarkable achievement for Changi Airport Singapore, and underlines its popularity amongst air travellers as the world’s Best Airport,” said Skytrax CEO, Edward Plaisted.
“Changi Airport lives up to its reputation as the world’s Best Airport and rather than dwell on earlier success, the airport continues to innovate and concentrate on making the customer experience in the airport environment the most enjoyable. It is therefore no surprise to see it named again by global travellers as the world’s favourite airport.”
inside no 5Changi Airport celebrated further success at the Awards, receiving the award as Best Airport for Leisure Amenities. These leisure amenities include the music bar lounges, cinemas, music deck, swimming pool, napping and rest areas and the in-terminal Transit Hotel.
Changi Airport Group chief executive officer, Lee Seow Hiang said: “This recognition comes at a time of transformation at Changi Airport. We are undertaking a number of projects including Terminal 4 and Jewel Changi Airport, with some works taking place amid ongoing airport operations. We are most grateful to all our passengers.”
The World Airport Awards are based on 13.02 million customer nominations across 112 nationalities of air travellers, and included 550 airports worldwide. The survey evaluates customer satisfaction across 39 key performance indicators for airport service and product – from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security and immigration, through to departure at the gate.
