Kunming hosts Routes Asia

KUNMING Routes Asia Strategy Summit officially opened the business programme at this year’s event to a packed audience at the Hai Geng Convention Centre in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China, Sunday.
The lead-in summit is a warm-up to a busy couple of days of face-to-face meetings between suppliers and aviation decision makers in the Asia Pacific region.
Reporting on the opening summit, Routes Online editor said hosting the event in Kunming, the largest Chinese city in the Greater Mekong Sub-region, underscores China’s expanding role as its domestic aviation market powers along and is destined to be largest in the world by 2030.
Kunming is likely to become a major aviation hub to channel trade and tourism to the other Mekong Region countries Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar and Camboida.
inside no 5Between 2012 and 2030, the Chinese outbound travel market will grow at an annual rate of 11%, meaning that by the start of the 2030s, almost half of all global passenger traffic will be within the Asia-Pacific region, or between the region and the rest of the world.
“With sessions on low-cost airline development in the region, airport infrastructure issues and how airlines and destinations are working to attract the valuable Chinese visitor, it was an engaging and thought-provoking Strategy Summit that debated some of the key topics impacting the aviation business across the whole region,” said Routes Online editor.
Today will mark the second day of the event and the start of the formal one-to-one meetings. It is worth remembering once again the important role that air services play particularly in the region where air connectivity is essential to support both business and leisure demand.
