KUALA LUMPUR  Malaysia’s latest mega fam trip concluded last week with 39 foreign travel agents and media attending the launching of the 1Malaysia Grand Prix Sale 2015 and the 6th Malaysia International Shoe Festival.
The Mega Fam participants, from Australia, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Laos, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam, also attended a destination seminar organised by Tourism Malaysia at Impiana KLCC Hotel.
They were briefed on Malaysia’s tourism industry and shopping by its shopping promotion arm – Secretariat Shopping Malaysia. It was followed by presentations by Suria KLCC and Sepang International Circuit.
The participants also attended the official launch of the 1Malaysia GP Sale 2015 and the 6th Malaysia International Shoe Festival. Both events, which are among the major highlights of the Malaysia Year of Festivals (MyFest) 2015, were launched by the Minister of Tourism and Culture Dato’ Seri Nazri Abdul Aziz.
inside no 6The Mega Fam programme offered five options to test the shopping experience in Kuala Lumpur; Berjaya Times Square, Sunway Pyramid, Bandar Utama & Mutiara Damansara, Heritage Street Shopping at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, and Putrajaya.
Malaysia celebrated its fourth Visit Malaysia Year in 2014 with the theme “Celebrating 1Malaysia Truly Asia”. The promotion of the country continues with the Malaysia Year of Festivals (MyFEST) campaign in 2015 with the theme “Endless Celebrations”. Both campaigns are key drivers towards achieving the country’s target of 36 million tourist arrivals and RM168 billion in receipts by 2020, as outlined in the Tourism NKEA (National Key Economic Area).
