A record number of Indians visited to the US in 2014, new data has revealed.

According to the latest figures from the US Department of Commerce, a total of 961,790 Indians travelled to the country last year – 11.9% more than in 2013. This made India the 11th largest inbound visitor market for the US. The growth follows the launch of Brand USA‘s first Indian office in 2013.

In total, 75 million international visitors travelled to the US in 2014, marking a 7% increase from 2013.

“Today’s data shows that the United States continues to be the premier destination for international visitors,” said US Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, Stefan M. Selig.

“It also highlights that we remain on track toward achieving President Obama’s goal of attracting 100m international visitors to the United States by 2021.”

Canada and Mexico continue to be the top inbound source markets for the US. Excluding these neighbouring countries, travel from overseas markets accounted for 46% of international arrivals to the US in 2014.
