Wego signs Saudi partner

DUBAI  Wego, a leading travel metasearch website and travel app in the Middle East and Asia Pacific, announced a partnership, Wednesday, with online travel agency Almosafer.
The OTA is based in Saudi Arabia and is the first local OTA partner for Wego.
Speaking from the Middle East’s online travel conference ‘Web In Travel’ in Dubai, Wego chief executive officer and co-founder, Ross Veitch said: “Online travel planning and booking has been enthusiastically adopted by travellers from Saudi Arabia in recent years and the Kingdom is now one of Wego’s fastest growing markets.”
“The partnership allows Wego to offer our users Almosafer’ range of hotel deals and popular local payment options such as Sadad and Pay Later.”
inside no 9“Today we are launching with Wego in KSA, but very soon we expect to expand the partnership into new markets as part of Almosafer’s aggressive expansion plans for 2015/16,” Almosafer CEO and founder Farooq Aljeraisy said.
Wego first entered the Saudi market with a fully localised metasearch product in 2012 and is now used by more than 3 million Saudi travellers each month. Other Saudi based partners for Wego include Saudia, the national carrier, Flynas a low-cost carrier and Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities for whom Wego powers the official tourism website.
The Middle East & North Africa (MENA) online travel market overall was estimated by Wego to be worth about USD29 billion in 2014.
Saudi Arabia was the largest individual country based on point of sale.
