Hilton Worldwide has unveiled plans to bring its Embassy brand to the Asia Pacific region for the first time.

The US hotel group has signed a management agreement for the Embassy by Hilton Bo’ao, which will open on the Chinese resort island of Hainan in 2019. The upper-upscale property will offer 300 rooms with an average size of 55m², plus two restaurants, a lounge bar, business centre, fitness centre and indoor and outdoor swimming pools.

“We are witnessing exponential growth in both international and domestic travel throughout Asia Pacific and are excited to introduce the Embassy by Hilton brand to a new audience of travellers in China, one of our most important markets outside of the United States,” said Francis Lee, Hilton’s senior vice president of development for Greater China.

“We are confident that more hotel owners will appreciate that Embassy by Hilton is well positioned to capture an untapped opportunity in the upper-upscale segment.”

“Demand is growing in the mid- to upper-upscale sector of the lodging industry in China, and we see great growth potential for Embassy by Hilton throughout the country,” said John Rogers, global head of Embassy by Hilton. “Embassy by Hilton is an upper-upscale hotel brand with a track record of more than 30 years of category-leading performance throughout the Americas.

“We are confident that the Embassy by Hilton brand will win the hearts and minds of both domestic and international travellers.”

There are currently more than 220 Embassy by Hilton properties open across the US, Canada and Latin America, with another 35 in the pipeline. Brand standard amenities include large “three-zone” suite-style rooms with sofa beds, free breakfast and complimentary evening drinks receptions for guests.

Embassy will become the sixth Hilton brand in China, joining Hilton Hotels & Resorts, DoubleTree by Hilton, Waldorf Astoria, Conrad and Hilton Garden Inn.
