AAE Travel, the joint venture between Expedia, Inc and AirAsia Berhad, announced today that its chief executive officer, Kathleen Tan, has resigned her position and stepped down from AirAsia Expedia’s board.

Ms. Tan was appointed as the CEO of AirAsia Expedia in January 2013 and had served on the board of directors since the formation of the joint venture in 2011.

“We are deeply appreciative of the contribution Kat has made to the business in Asia,” said Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO and president, Expedia, Inc.

“She brought a deep understanding of the Asian travel markets and drove aggressive growth for us across many of the key markets.”

Tony Fernandes, AirAsia Group CEO, added: “Kat was an integral part of the leadership team that helped propel AirAsia into success and I knew she would do the same for AirAsia Expedia. She did just that and more.”

“Under her leadership, AirAsia Expedia has seen significant growth in both brand awareness and revenue. Her departure from AirAsia Expedia will be a big loss for the group but on behalf of the AirAsia family, I would like to thank Kat for her tremendous contributions. We wish her continued success in her future endeavours.”
