The latest industry appointments

IVAN CHU has been nominated by the governing board of oneworld to serve as its chairman for the year ahead. Chu was appointed chief executive of Cathay Pacific, which is a founder member of oneworld, in March 2014. He is also chairman of Hong Kong Dragon Airlines and Swire Pacific Limited. He was Cathay Pacific’s COO for three years previously.

SANJANA BHATTACHAN has been appointed director of sales & marketing at the Westin Siray Bay Resort & Spa, Phuket. Ms Bhattachan is no stranger to Starwood or southern Thailand, having previously served as director of sales & marketing at the Sheraton Krabi Resort & Spa. She began her hotel career in Nepal.

JOHN RANAUDO has been announced as the new executive chef at the Westin Siray Bay Resort & Spa, Phuket. An Italian-Canadian national, Chef John began his career in Italy 28 years ago and has since worked at hotel brands including Waldorf Astoria, Centara, Amari and Cape & Kantary hotels in Asia.

JULIE JACKSON has been appointed as director of sales & marketing for the St. Regis Bali Resort and The Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa. Julie is responsible for the sales and marketing strategies for both properties, reporting to MD, Helmut Pluecker. Julie spent 8 years of her career at Starwood Hotels & Resorts around the world, and has served as a Hotel Manager at The Westin Bund Center Shanghai.

JACKY LEE has been appointed director of food & beverage at the Sheraton Shanghai Hongkou Hotel, along with new chef de cuisine Roy Wu. Lee has been in the industry for more than 20 years, with experience from international luxury hotel brands in China and Australia, and is currently in charge of the hotel’s Miyabi, Feast and Yue restaurants.

DARIO CATTARINICH has been appointed as executive chef at the first two Unique Collection properties in Myanmar: The Emerald Palace Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw and Residence@26, Yangon. Cattarinich, who was born in Italy and creates Italian and Asian fusion cuisine, brings 15 years of experience in the hospitality and restaurant industries.

TAY LI-LIN has been announced as regional marketing communications manager for Furama Hotels International. She will oversee functions for the Furama, FuramaXclusive and FX brands in the region. Li-lin has more than 12 years of experience in the hospitality, publishing and PR industries including at Crescendas Group and Aqueen Hotels.

CASEY UEBERROTH has been named chief marketing officer of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, in an announcement containing four executive appointments. He will lead global strategy, including website, loyalty program iPrefer, all co-op marketing programmes and communications, and continues to serve as President of Preferred Golf

Also Ken Mastrandrea has been named chief operating officer; Hiren Chandiramani has been named chief financial officer; and Michelle Woodley has been named executive vice president.
