HANOI Vietnam National Administration of Tourism estimates the country welcomed 529,445 international travellers in June representing a slight decline of 1.9% during the same month, last year.
Thailand’s outbound trips to Vietnam ranked in 10th place recording 13,430 trips a decrease of 34.4%.
China was the top supply market with 113,906 visits, but declined 16.7%. Other top performers were South Korea, Japan, the United States and Malaysia.
Neighbouring Cambodia also slipped off the top 10 markets posting 11,739 trips down 63.2%.
inside no 2 All of the country’s top markets are in the Asia/Pacific region with the exception of the US (fourth), and Russia (eighth), a trend that has remained static for five years.
The bulk of arrivals in June (419,176) passed through the two main aviation gateways Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
For January to June this year, the country welcomed 3,804,636 international tourists down 11.3% over the same period last year.
Declines have been recorded every month for over a year. The latest is one of the slimmest percentage declines, which will encourage the trade in Vietnam to believe it can achieve positive results with more promotions. The government also hopes that by easing visa regulations and offering visa-free travel to more countries it reverse the trend.
VNAT updated its data on its website, earlier this week, sourced from the government statistics office.
