Vietjet collaborates with Boeing on fleet expansion plans

SINGAPORE - Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company (“Vietjet”) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with The Boeing Company, paving the way for both companies to collaborate on future business opportunities.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung, Vice Chairman of Vietjet’s Board of Management, and Mr. Stanley Roth, Vice President, Boeing International Government Relations signed the deal in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, in his first official visit to the United States to mark the 20th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between the United States and Vietnam.

The MOU supports the goal of expanding Vietjet’s fleet with Boeing’s commercial jet aircraft as well as explore areas of collaboration to fleet planning, flight and maintenance training, marketing and branding, and financing.

“Boeing is very pleased to start this new partnership with Vietjet and we look forward to working with them as they expand their fleet,” said Mr. Stanley Roth during the ceremony.

M. Nguyen Thanh Hung said, “Our continuous investment in new and modern fleet is crucial to Vietjet’s development strategy in Asia Pacific. We are honoured and delighted to sign this deal, which is expected to bring more business opportunities for both Vietjet and Boeing in the near future.”

Vietjet has recorded an impressive growth since it launched its operations in late 2011. The airline currently operates a fleet of 25 A321 and A320 aircraft across 32 routes domestically and internationally, and plans to add four more aircraft by the end of 2015. During the recent Paris Air Show, Vietjet also ordered six additional A321 aircraft for delivery in 2017.
