TAT forecasts mega revenue gains

ANGKOK Thailand Tourism Authority reports tourism revenue could reach THB2.23 trillion in 2016 on the back of its highly successful ‘Discover Thainess’ campaign.
National News Bureau of Thailand quoted TAT’s deputy governor for international marketing, Juthaporn Rerngronasa, who addressed a seminar, ‘A Compass for Thailand’s Tourism Industry’, Monday.
She confidently forecast tourism revenue in 2016 could reach THB2.23 trillion with THB1.53 trillion derived from international visitors and THB802 billion from the domestic market.
inside no 7Her forecast was based on a 8.32% growth rate in international visits and 8% in the domestic market.
Regional markets contribute 62% of the earnings and, long-haul markets 36%.
The TAT deputy governor said Thailand would be presented as a quality leisure destination with marketing communications campaigns featuring contents on iconic items, or symbols, such as a Thai smile, tuk tuk transport and in the food category, Pad Thai.
Discover Thainess remains the core branding exercise but the Amazing Thailand campaign slogan will also be used with the addition of a “smile” graphic.
