NEW DELHI India’s Ministry of Railways will remove the condition of providing a photocopy of passports or ID cards at the time of purchasing Takkal rail tickets effective 1 September.
India’s Press Information Bureau reported, Monday, the Ministry of Railways will modify some of the rules pertaining to purchase of Tatkal tickets to make them more compatible with online booking systems.
It will do away with the need to present a photocopy of proof of identity, while booking Tatkal ticket from computerised reservations, or to indicate an ID number at the time of booking of Tatkal ticket at a sales counter or through the internet.
However, travel will be denied if passport numbers printed on the e-ticket do not match those of actual passport.
