BANGKOK Ministry of Tourism and Sports hopes to revive tourist confidence in Japan with a roadshow and pavilion at the JATA Tourism Expo, next week.
Tourism and Sports Minister, Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, said the ministry will collaborate with the Tourism Authority of Thailand and private sector travel firms to host a roadshow and a Thailand pavilion at the JATA Tourism Expo that will be held next week in Tokyo.
The minister said: “We will reassure Japanese travellers that Thailand is safe and also present the Thainess campaign themes of Thai food, traditional massage, golf and spas that are features of the 12 hidden gem destinations.”
inside no 4“We hope to tap quality tourists particularly the Japanese female consumer market…Japan is one of the top sources for Thailand’s tourism and should generate 1.39 million visits and THB54,900 million in revenue this year.”
Last year, Thailand attracted 1.26 million Japanese travellers down 17.65% from 1.53 visits in 2013. The market generated THB47,753.12 million in revenue but that represented a decline of 18.52% from THB58,604.33 million in 2013.
