Singaporeans flock of New Zealand

SINGAPORE  Singaporeans flocked to New Zealand in record numbers over the last 12 months with over 47,500 travelling to the country in the year to August 2015.
It represents New Zealand’s highest ever number of Singaporean visitors for a 12 month period.
Figures were released by Tourism New Zealand ahead of Kiwi Link Southeast Asia 2015 – an annual trade event which will see 40 New Zealand tourism companies travel to Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia from 2 to 12 October 2015. Kiwi Link will be taking place in Singapore 5 and 6 October.
Tourism New Zealand’s Regional Manager for South and Southeast Asia, Steven Dixon, said the increase in Singaporean visitors to New Zealand illustrates the country’s growing appeal as a travel destination.

Dixon said that around half of the Singaporean travellers to New Zealand in the last 12 months were repeat visitors with those that visit the country enjoying its open space, scenery and fresh air.
“With the many activities available in New Zealand in close proximity, travellers are able to enjoy New Zealand’s clean, green landscapes while skiing, rafting or simply wine tasting in one of New Zealand’s many picturesque vineyards. Each season also offers its own charms.”
Mr Dixon added that Tourism New Zealand is always looking at how it can continue to strengthen tourism ties between the two countries and Kiwi Link Southeast Asia 2015 is a key platform to do this.
inside no 7.1“Kiwi Link brings together Singaporean tourism product managers and planners with New Zealand tourism operators, allowing us to raise awareness of New Zealand’s many offerings as a travel destination. The event also allows New Zealand’s tourism operators to get a better understanding of how they can cater for Singaporean travellers,” he said.
Dynasty Travel International product manager, Dorothy Cheong, who will be attending the event said Kiwi Link is an important platform for the Singaporean tourism industry to engage with the New Zealand travel market.
“More and more Singaporeans are interested in New Zealand as a holiday destination with people looking to travel to the country to experience the clean, green open landscapes that we’ve all seen in movies such as the Lord of the Rings.”
“Kiwi Link allows us to engage with New Zealand travel operators to understand more about what the country has to offer,” she said.
