Haze dulls Singapore shine

SINGAPORE  Hazy conditions continue to affect Singapore with PSI readings staying within the unhealthy range.
Conditions are not favourable for travellers who engage in outdoor activities; sightseeing and sports. The National Environment Agency has warned residents to avoid outdoor activities.
Haze spreading from Sumatra in Indonesia is impacting on Singapore and Malaysia. Some haze from Kalimantan on Borneo island has also spread to both countries.
The National Environment Agency in Singapore reported a slight deterioration in haze conditions, 1 October, with the 24-hr PSI at 127 to 160, in the unhealthy range.
inside no 10A total of 11 hotspots were detected in Sumatra on Thursday. The low hotspot count was due to cloud cover over parts of the island.
The forecast for Friday warns winds from the east-southeast or southeast will continue to blow haze across Singapore and into parts of Malaysia.
Hazy conditions are expected to persist with the 24-hr PSI for the next 24 hours possibly rising to the high end of the unhealthy range and low end of the very unhealthy range. It may deteriorate further to the mid-section of the very unhealthy range later on Friday if denser haze is blown in.
