Hong Kong Airlines hosts the 9th "Triumph Sky High" Junior Programme bringing students with special needs an "off the ground" experience

HONG KONG - To equip students with special needs and learning difficulties with an enhanced understanding and experience of the local aviation industry, Hong Kong Airlines has hosted its 9th "Triumph Sky High" Junior Programme. Accompanied by the Mr. Alan Tam Wing-lun, AKA "Principal of Cantopop", a group of students from Mary Rose School were able to visit airport facilities, board an aircraft and learn from crew members who shared their aviation knowledge and flight experiences with the students.

The latest programme from Hong Kong Airlines saw the airline staff accompany students as they visited check-in counters to learn about the daily operation of ground services. The school children then boarded a Hong Kong Airlines aircraft, entering the cockpit and cabin to hear first-hand experiences from pilots and the cabin crew. Students also had the opportunity to dress-up in pilot and airhostess costumes and perform inflight duties for Mr. Sun Jian-feng, Vice President of Hong Kong Airlines and Alan. The event was met with much excitement from crew and students alike. Hong Kong Airlines believes that the flight experience should never be constrained by individual disabilities.

Mr. Sun Jian-feng, Vice President of Hong Kong Airlines said, "Hong Kong Airlines has its origins in Hong Kong and is therefore committed to promoting the development of the local aviation industry. It is especially meaningful to collaborate with the inspiring students of Mary Rose School. We seek to cultivate and inspire the next generation of aviation talent by hosting the Programme and simultaneously bring joyful experiences to more Hongkongers while giving back to society."

The students from Mary Rose School were adorable and showed such passion and genuine interest while meeting the crew and exploring the aircraft. It was a rewarding visit for me personally as I had the chance to gain first-hand experience and learn more about the aviation industry while joining in the excitement with the kids."

Students have been very engaged with these visits which have significantly increased their interest in the aviation industry. Receiving such encouraging feedback from the students has ensured that Hong Kong Airlines will continue to hold the "Triumph Sky High" Junior Programme to increase students' exposure to the aviation industry.

Since its launch in 2014, the "Triumph Sky High" Junior Programme has already given over 300 local students a unique experience of the industry through visits and role plays. It has received an overwhelming response with over applications from over 100 schools so far.
