BANGKOK - Thailand had the largest contingent of exhibitors at the ITB Asia 2015, which took place between 21-23 October, 2015, at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.

The list of 114 exhibitors included a wide range of hotels, tour operators and attractions. A total of 32 exhibitors exhibited directly with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in the common Thai pavilion.

The large presence reflected the increased marketing efforts of the Thai private sector to boost business, especially from within the Asian region. Many Thai sellers are focussing their promotional activities within the ASEAN and Asia-Pacific regions, both of which are expected to be the major sources of visitor arrivals for Thailand in the years ahead.

TAT Governor Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn said, “It was very encouraging to see so many Thai companies exhibiting at the ITB Asia. This will certainly go a long way towards boosting the impact of our “Discover Thainess” campaign and help us boost arrivals over the rest of this year and beyond.”

Thailand has participated in the ITB Asia every year since the show was launched in 2008. It is organised by Messe Berlin (Singapore) Pte Ltd and supported by the Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau.

The event features hundreds of exhibiting companies from the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, the Americas, Africa and the Middle East. Exhibitors represent every sector of the industry, including destinations, airlines and airports, hotels and resorts, theme parks and attractions, inbound tour operators, inbound DMCs, cruise lines, spas, venues, other meeting facilities and travel technology companies.

At this year’s event, the TAT Singapore Office organised a Market Briefing for buyers and media on 21 October, 2015, followed by a networking lunch, which was attended by the TAT Governor.

On 22 October 2015, Mrs. Srisuda Wanapinyosak, TAT’s Deputy Governor for International Marketing (Asia and the South Pacific) participated in the Travel Weekly Asia Reader’s Choice Awards Ceremony 2015. She will represent the TAT in accepting the Travel Weekly Asia Reader’s Choice Awards 2015 for the ‘Destination of the Year (Asia Pacific)’ category.

The Award winners, one for each of the 32 categories, represent the “best of the best” of the travel industry. The Awards recipients were voted by Travel Weekly’s Asia readers, a group comprising expert travel professionals.

On 23 October 2015, the TAT Deputy Governor met with representatives of national tourism organisations and buyers from various countries.

The eighth ITB Asia came to a close with 760 exhibitors from 73 countries, with close to 880 buyers and attracted more than 10,300 attendees over the three days.
