BANGALORE - Are you ready to make history and cross three countries by road in one go? Adventure junkies and curious, like-minded explorers can get set for the ultimate challenge of a lifetime with Byond Travel and the first ever road trip to Thailand from India, to be flagged off on January 23, 2016. The newly opened route means driving across the world's most undiscovered lands is finally accessible, with this first-of-its-kind organized expedition from India to Bangkok via Myanmar, South Asia's last unexplored country which has till now been a mystery to most of us. Travellers will test their limits off-roading, driving across narrow WWII wooden and iron bridges, past rice and paddy fields, old city walls, pagodas and temples, tiny villages and down a 16-lane expressway in Myanmar.

With the option of booking the 10-day/9-night trip or the 16-day/17-night trip, you'll cover 2500 kms across 3 countries alongside the team from Byond Travel, the first travel company in India to organize such an initiative. By working closely with the Ministry of Tourism in Myanmar and the Thailand Tourism Authority, Byond Travel ensures that all relevant paperwork, documentation, permits and licenses are in place. Once you're set, you'll just need to pack your bags and get ready to take a ride across the colourful locales of NE India, Burma and Thailand on the Great Asian Highway. You don't have to stress out about any aspects of the trip other than reserving a place for yourself and getting to know the new terrain and surroundings as you go.

Talking about this, Vikram Ahuja, the founder and CEO of Byond Travel, said, "We are very excited to launch the first ever road trip to Thailand from India. In fact, this is the first of many such group tours at Byond where our travellers get to challenge themselves with a different kind of trip while we coordinate the details and show them a side of Asia that's gone largely untouched. Accompanied by travel experts like Tushar Agarwal and Sanjay Madan, who hold a Guinness World Record for driving the longest distance in a single country, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for adventure seekers."

With the completion of the Myawaddy-Thinggan Nyenaung-Kawkareik section of the Asian superhighway linking India to Thailand, air travel is taking a backseat as most Indians are now adding road trips to Thailand to their bucket list. Byond has planned the 16-day journey in a way that it will include overnight stops at Kale, Bagan, Lake Inle, Yangon, Golden Rock, Tak and Bangkok in hotels ranging from 3 to 5 stars. In between, stops are made at tiny villages and towns for lunch and coffee breaks, with visits to tucked away spots along the way as well as historical and cultural sites like the Kyaiktiyo Pagoda, Golden Rock and more, as you drive by the plush green scenery of the hills and enter the plains.

Not many people have done this trip, but Byond is working with experienced tour leaders who have done this trip multiple times over. Group leaders Tushar and Sanjay are known for their 'Great Indian World Trip' that took them across 50 countries and 90,000 km in 6 continents. Apart from the Guinness record, they also hold 7 Limca Records in the Adventure category. They will lead a convoy of 7-10 SUV cars that will accommodate 30 to 40 people on the tour. While almost anyone can be part of this historic road trip, young children are not recommended and participants need to be physically fit, though of course the convoy includes a crew car stocked with medical supplies and local teams in Thailand and Myanmar will be available for medical assistance.

As an end-to-end travel company, Byond will ensure every arrangement is taken care of - including accommodation, transport, meals, permits and permissions to drive, assistance through immigration and custom clearance during land border crossings, a crew vehicle as well as local guidance and support.

So, if you are a travel junkie looking to experience something different in a way that's never been done before, this is an opportunity to do just that. Byond designs and plans your vacations while ensuring it's immersive and gives you a local perspective on the place.
