SINGAPORE Skal clubs in Asia are rallying members to attend the international organisation’s annual congress that will be hosted in Singapore.

Skal Asia area president, Robert Sohn, is leading the campaign to bolster attendance from clubs across Asia.

The event should attract close to 3,000 delegate,  but in its hey-day, the congress drew as many as 9,000 delegates worldwide.

inside no 5Skal is one of the oldest clubs for travel industry executives, formed initially as a social and networking gathering for fun and friendship in northern Europe.

The 2016 congress will be hosted by Singapore, 14 to 16 July with a programme featuring local and international speakers addressing issues, challenges and opportunities facing the region’s travel and tourism sectors.

Skal’s annual congress is rarely hosted in Southeast Asia, and Singapore is ideal for members in the region to enjoy Skal’s famous networking sessions closer to home.

The keynote address, 15 July, will be made by Quek Choon Yang, chief technology officer – Technology Transformation Group at the Singapore Tourism Board.

Quek will address delegates on ‘Technology in Travel’.

“All Skal clubs in Asia that send seven or more delegates to the Singapore congress in July will receive a complimentary registration for the 2017 Congress in Bahrain. Fourteen or more delegates attending from one club will receive two complimentary registrations for the 2017 Congress.” explained Sohn.

He continued: “We need to raise  our voice across the region on relevant issues. It is our role and responsibility to represent the interests of Skal members in Asia and I want to have the opportunity of meeting many more members at our annual congresses.”
