Visa introduces airport app

SINGAPORE Visa announced the launch of “Visa airport companion” programme that uses an integrated mobile platform.

Visa claims it is the first of its kind in Asia-Pacific,  offering cardholders an improved airport experience by offering access to privileges and discounts for amenities and services at the airport.

It sources availability and special offers for lounges, restaurants, spas, retail, limousines and meet & greet services.

The platform includes in-app payment, card verification, smart recommendations and push notifications.

Visa has signed a three-year exclusive partnership with DragonPass, a lounge provider with worldwide cover.

Visa Asia Pacific senior vice president head of products, TS Anil, commented: “Airports are commerce hubs with growing number of travellers, retail stores and spend.” He claimed that around 7.5 billion people will pass through airport terminals by 2019 generating sales of around USD60 billion at airports.

Besides airport lounges, F&B establishments are most frequented across all traveller segments, followed by shopping.

“Visa is constantly exploring ways to bring value to our cardholders. Visa airport companion programme provides Visa cardholders with a one-stop shop to enjoy the various offerings on a digital platform,” he explained.

The Visa airport companion programme comes with a mobile app that lets cardholders manage their membership, make payments, receive smart recommendations or enjoy the airport services at the touch of a button.

As an introductory offering, Visa Infinite cardholders can enjoy a complimentary membership until 31 May, 2017, whereby they can enjoy up to 20% discount at 200 dining outlets in key Asia Pacific airports, and discounts to purchase single lounge passes.
